Bowman Bay is a small slice of paradise on Fidalgo Island. The perfect place for campers, kayakers, boaters, hikers, and people looking for somewhere to just kick back and have a picnic. Once home to a large Samish village, then a a military reservation, it is now a state park rich in history and beautiful and idyllic scenery. You can read more about the history here.
Bowman Bay is a great place to hike. Trails wind through and lead you to different vantage points with awe inspiring scenic views that will take your breath away. Secret coves or little hideaways to explore. Wildflowers and wildlife may pop by for a view. Hike over to Rosario during low tide and explore the creatures beneath the sea. For more information on the trails click here.

Anacortes Shipwreck Fest

What is now known as Shipwreck Fest started thirty-six years ago when commercial fishermen wanted to sell their used gear. Shipwreck Fest has since evolved into a large community garage sale, flea market, and treasure hunting event.. The city of Anacortes closes off downtown to traffic on a Saturday in mid-July and around 270 booths line up the main street.  This local event has become one of the city's largest summer events, bringing in swarms of visitors from all over.

5 Reasons to visit the Anacortes Farmers Market

Farmer markets are all the rage, and they should be. They provide a great place to buy local and healthy food, they are a great place to gather, and they bring a community together.

1. The Farmers

Local Farmers bring the best of their crops to the Anacortes Farmers Market each Saturday from May to October. Fresh, delicious, and a bounty full of goodness.

2. The Veggies and Fruit

You will find just about everything you need at the Anacortes Farmers Market. A diverse variety of healthy options.

3. The Location

The Anacortes Farmers Market is located at the historic Anacortes Depot Arts & Community Center. You will find the Depot at 611 R Ave, just two blocks from Commercial Ave in the lovely historical downtown Anacortes, and two blocks from Cap Sante Marina, a boater's haven.

A little about the Depot
DEPOT: The “new” Great Northern Depot was built in 1911 at Seventh Street on R Avenue, more than 20 years after Seattle and Northern Railroad Company ran the first passenger train to Anacortes on August 5, 1890.

4. Food Vendors

Hungry? There is usually a nice variety of food vendors and great bakeries at the Anacortes Farmers Market. Get some lunch, sit down in the Depot Plaza, and enjoy the music while you fuel up from shopping.

5. The Volunteers

Picture
This well-run farmers market is comprised of some of the best volunteers around. It is their support, which has made this one of the best farmer markets in the state.
