Snowbird in Florida - RV Route Planning Guide
Snowbirds, or the politically correct term “Winter Visitors,” started over 100 years. Following the migration of RVers south was a new experience for us. We chose Florida for our first winter migration, looking forward to warmer weather, beaches, and an Airboat ride. Join as we migrated from the Great Smoky Mountains to Tampa Florida.
As a newbie, I struggled with the route south. I am used the highways in the western part of the U.S., where they mostly go east/west or north/south, To get from Tennessee to Florida, there didn’t seem to be a direct route, that might be great for exploring, but it is a bit confusing for people not familiar with the area. I had asked in an Airstream group about routes, and it was a newbie Airstreamer who had left Tampa for Tennessee, who told me the exact route they took and where they stayed, so I reversed it.
